Serious Sam 3 is finally heading our way – and in the leadup, the devs at Croteam have launched the Serious Sam Indie Series. Basically, they’ve given a bunch of indie developers the opportunity to create a game in the Sam universe – and the finished product could well “rock everything from PCs to mobile platforms to consoles.”
There’s three developers on board, so this is what’s in store:
Serious Sam: Kamikaze Attack!
From Be-Rad Entertainment, players can finally rid the world of Serious Sam by throwing countless, headless kamikaze warriors at him. It’s coming to mobile platforms.
Serious Sam: Double D
A “frantic” side-scroller from Mommy’s Best Games, featuring hand-drawn artwork and an “innovative” weapon stacking system. Due out on PC and console.
Serious Sam: The Random Encounter
Believe it or not, Vlambeer have contributed a turn-based RPG for Sam, packed full of collectables. Not sure what platforms you’ll be able to play it on.
…and just in case you thought this new endeavour was going to take away from the spirit of the original games, Fork Parker, chief financial officer at Sam publisher Devolver Digital observes:
“I’ve never heard of any of these indie clowns. Do any of these jokers make hentai games? I’m telling you guys, that weird tentacle stuff is the future of gaming.”
Serious Sam 3 is coming to PC and console later this year, all three indie efforts are due in the next few months.
