EA has officially announced both Victory Games and a new Command & Conquer title, as was leaked earlier this week. Whether they’d intended to make the big reveal quite so early is another question, but fans of the series are biting their nails in anticipation.
While the original website, [surl=http://www.cncstage.com/]CnCStage.com[/surl], has not been relaunched, the [surl=http://www.commandandconquer.com]official website[/surl] for the franchis has been updated, displaying a Victory Games logo and the announcement that “EA starts new strategy studio”.
Details on the game are still slim, but the site does now feature an interview with industry veteran Jon Van Caneghem. He doesn’t give away too much about the new project, but it still sounds pretty positive:
“I can tell you it’s a Command & Conquer game for the PC, but we’re not yet at a stage where I can go into any details—we’ll be prepared to make a more formal announcement later in the year. We’re not just working on a game, though. Our general focus is on the future of Command & Conquer. That means updating a lot of the core technology to create a stable base for future development, and leveraging that work on this first game.”
The updated website also introduces new Community Manager [surl=http://www.commandandconquer.com/en/blogs/blog/75]CIRE[/surl], who replaces the much-beloved APOC, who left last year.
New CM, new studio, new direction? Fingers crossed for this one, but I doubt we’ll be hearing too many details in the near future.
