We haven’t heard much from the Left 4 Dead 2 developers recently, but now we know that’s because they’ve been working on a surprise! They’re planning a new DLC release, and it will include (among other things) the three remaining Left 4 Dead 1 campaigns – so if you’ve got the second game you’ll soon have all of the first game as a bonus. (No Mercy was already featured in The Sacrifice DLC pack, remember?)
…that’s a pretty sweet deal, but it’s not the exciting bit. The exciting bit is that an all-new community campaign is also in the works. Cold Stream is being created by Matthew Lourdelet, creator of 2 Evil Eyes, and the team at Valve think it’s a bit of all right.
Cold Stream will soon be added to the game’s user interface, and PC gamers will be able to beta test the new level and make decisions about what should and shouldn’t be included in the final release. A [surl=http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1088]dedicated forum[/surl] has been set up for gamers and developers to chat amongst themselves – and it really looks like Valve want you to really get involved in this one. They’re promising to share feedback and data with you, and illustrate just why Valve Time is a good thing, not a bad thing.
When the DLC pack is ready, it will be released for PC, Mac and Xbox 360 – but
don’t expect it until after Portal 2 is on shelves in May. For more information, head to the game’s [surl=http://www.l4d.com/blog/post.php?id=5019]official blog[/surl].
