As promised, the second official L.A. Noire trailer has arrived, bringing with it the long-awaited (and recently-leaked) release dates for the game. And, as expected, it’s something pretty special. Comprised entirely of in-game footage, the video gives you an insight into just what’s in store when the game launches in May.
Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games, explains:
“L.A. Noire breaks new ground for us. Its intense blend of action and real detective work defies genre conventions to create a unique and captivating thriller.”
As we all know by now, L.A. Noire is set in Hollywood’s post-war “Golden Age”, the glamour surrounded by corruption and violence. Cole Phelps is a World War II hero-turned-aspiring young detective, and the game follows his progression as he climbs the ranks of the LAPD.
In an interesting move, the game – described as a “dark crime thriller” – plays out across the various LAPD ‘desks’. These include departments such as Traffic, Homicide, Vice and Arson, and each one poses its own unique challenges (and reveals new elements of the LA criminal underworld)
L.A. Noire is due out for both Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 17th in North America, and May 20th in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Mark it in your calendars, folks – 2011 is the year that vaporware becomes reality.
