This time last year, Duke Nukem Forever was nothing but a joke well past its use-by date. Nobody really believed that one day, we’d be able to play 3D Realms amazing, jaw-dropping first-person action title.
Things got a little more real when Gearbox Software, who accepted the mantle of development responsibility, brought the game to Australia. We caught up with Randy Pitchford and Steve Gibson and asked them a few questions on camera – while Yahtzee asked them a few more at Brisbane’s Mana Bar.
And now, we’ve found out that we’ll only have to wait a matter of months before this thing of beauty, this wisp of vapour is actually real and in our sweaty grasp, as publishers 2K Games announce the game’s release date.
Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K has the honours:
“The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here.
“May 3, 2011 marks Duke’s return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!”
We also got our hands on a video that contains all sorts of offensive content, language, nudity, violence… trust me when I say the King is Back, baby…
…so folks, mark your calendars. That’s May 3rd if you’re in North America, the rest of the world has to wait another few days before the Duke arrives on May 6th, for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Better stock up on bubble gum.
