Red Dead Redemption sweeps award nominations

The shortlist for this year’s Interactive Achievement Awards have just been announced by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), and Red Dead Redemption is a clear favourite, bagging nine nominations. This doesn’t mean it’s automatically smooth sailing for the Wild West shooter – those pesky Angry Birds are also vying for the Game of the Year award.

Didja hear? We got nominated!

Of course, it’s not just the two of them – Game of the Year will be seeing some more competition from Call of Duty: Black Ops, God of War III and Mass Effect 2.

This is God of War III‘s sixth nomination, as well as Black Ops and ME2‘s fifth.

Other titles earning multiple-nominations are Enslaved: Odyssey to the West with six; Heavy Rain and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood with five, and Dance Central, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and indie game Limbo picking up four each.
