Ubisoft have unleashed the Animus Project Update 1.0 onto the not-so-unsuspecting public via Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. They’re promising that Animus Project Update 2.0 will come in January, and remind you that both updates are free to download for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
…which is all well and good, but what is it?
Well, let me explain. Animus Project Update 1.0 introduces an all-new game mode, as well as a brand new map for multiplayer adventures in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.

First, the new mode. It’s called Advanced Alliance, and essentially makes target identification and engagement more difficult than the original Alliance Mode. Teams of two players battle it out in this more challenging experience, with the game rewarding those who use stealth technique to hunt their prey.
Mont Saint-Michel is the new map, located on a rocky tidal island just off Normandy, in France. It promises some pretty awesome scenery – multi-level architecture, narrow streets and a breathtaking bell-tower. You’ll need your wits about you, as enemies lurk in every corner – but this map is perfect for your parkour skills.
Next month’s Animus Project Update 2.0 will introduce another new game mode and map. Chest Capture Multiplayer sees two teams of three partering with fellow Templars to either defend – or capture – Chests dotted around the city. The new map takes gamers to Italy, with Pienza providing a perfect free-running playground for predators and targets alike to blend into.
And, if you’ve been putting in the hard yards, the 2.0 update will also include the new Templar Score feature to reward all the hard work by Abstergo recruits.
Animus Project Update 1.0 for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is out now via Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network, for free. What are you waiting for?
