Hug A Gamer Day 2010

On November 29th in 1972, Nolan Bushnell first unveiled Pong in a local bar. It’s only fitting then that, nearly 40 years later, it’s been chosen as the appropriate date for Hug A Gamer Day.

Video Games: Why waste good technology on science and medicine?

Hugs, not bugs.

Organisers explain:

“We’ve got days to wear towels, days to talk like pirates, but (according to a web search) this is the first planned Hug A Gamer day.”

…and why not? Gamers need love too – especially after spending so much time blowing each other up. It’s time to give your favourite geek a big cuddle (just keep an eye out for those ninja reflexes).

This all started on Facebook (where else?), where an international event currently has nearly 175,000 attendees. That’s a lot of embraces – and a lot of handy excuses. Who could deny you a cuddle on Hug A Gamer Day?

So here’s a big group hug from playerattack to you. Nawwwwww.

(It’s also the anniversary of CS Lewis’ birth, so to take it to the next level, we suggest going and sitting in a cupboard for a while, too.)
