The team at Firemint are listening to you. When you said you wanted a minimap, they delivered. You want a HUD you can toggle on or off? It’s yours. You want in-game footage from Real Racing 2? Here you go!
They explain that – with the licensed cars featured in the game, everything takes a little bit longer to process and is all a little bit more complicated. But, this new clip shows off the Nissan GT-R (R35) in all its racing glory.
We’ve also been told that the developers are being a little indulgent with RR2, but in the best possible way. They’re building the game to be the kind of title they really enjoy playing themselves: “incredibly fun, with beautiful graphics, intuitive controls and lots of content”.
That would be lots of content including the real cars that have been licensed to appear in the game, including:
2010 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R
2006 BMW Z4 M Coupe Race Car
2010 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500
2010 #33 Jaguar RSR XKR GT
2010 Nissan GT-R (R35)
…and still more cars to be announced.
Firemint claim to have 10 hours of gameplay in career mode alone, where you can earn in-game reputation and currency by winning races. That’s a lot of time waiting for the bus!
You’ll also be able to buy and sell cars, as well as unlocking championship events and new tracks. Of course, the cars are customisable – add performance enhancements or just change the colour scheme as it suits you.
The game’s currently on track for a “pre-Christmas” release, and while the game will work on everything from an iPhone 2G and iPod touch 1, the development team are focussing on making sure Real Racing 2 “brings out the best” of the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4 hardware.
