Australian retailer EB Games have announced an interesting twist on the concept of videogame trade-ins. For the first time in their history – perhaps in the world – customers can trade their toy cars towards their purchase of Gran Turismo 5.
Debra McGrath, EB Games National Brand & Marketing Manager explained the unique drive (heh), observing that you would be “hard pressed” to find someone who doesn’t have a toy car hanging around in a cupboard or toy chest:
“We are all extremely excited about the release this Thursday of GT5. This game has been over 5 years in the making and will revolutionise racing games as we know them. So in order to celebrate, we wanted to do something different that was fun, easy and allowed all customers to get involved.”
The deal is valid for one day only – Thursday November 25th – and gamers can trade a maximum of 20 cars, receiving 50c per car off the total purchase price. To make the deal even sweeter, all cars traded in will be donated to local charities – just in time to help with the Christmas fundraisers!
