Sure, it’s been done before, but there’s always room for one more zombie-filled bloodsport game, right? Take one gladiator arena, throw in some of the undead, add a few armoured war machines, and set the whole thing in a post-apocalyptic world, and you’ve got Blood Drive, coming soon from New Zealand developers Sidhe (it’s a bit of a departure from Shatter now, isn’t it!).
Blood Drive features a televised game show, where drivers battle each other (and the ever-present hordes of the undead) in an all-out battle. Undead cops, strippers, frat boys and even a bachelorette party or two all bring their own style and flair – and they all want your brains. Added to the mix are the motorised metal “death steeds”, which include some heavily-weaponised muscle cars and beefed-up hot rods, perfect for helping to deal with the zombie problem.
I’m sure you’ve noticed that, typically, publishers are prone to gushing over their products, particularly when they’ve only just been announced, David Pokress from Activision is remarkably succinct:
“Over-the-top vehicular combat and zombies are two things that go great together.
What more is there to say?”
What more indeed. Six unforgiving environments. Four person drop-in/drop-out multiplayer. PS3 and Xbox 360. November. Blood Drive. Off you go.
