Oh, unverified rumours, how I love thee. Today’s big news comes in the form of allegations that Brad Pitt is being offered the role of John Marston in the big-screen adaptation of Red Dead Redemption.
“Sources” have apparently told ShowbizSpy that Pitt is the “hot favourite” to star in the film, which promises to be a cowboy shoot-em-up of epic proportions (kinda like the game).
“The idea is to make this in the style of an epic Western movie but with a few modern touches.
“Brad is perfect for the role and he is being given first refusal.”
Here’s hoping it’s even a little bit like the short film released earlier this year, which was made entirely within the game.

Ignoring the curse of game-to-movie adaptations, something doesn’t sit quite right with me about Brad as John Marston. I’ve spent the afternoon trying to work out who I like better in the role – Jonah Hex‘s Josh Brolin? Hugh Jackman? Bruce Willis? At the moment I think I’m leaning kinda left-of-center, with Mister Blonde himself, Michael Madsen.
