If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, chances are you’ve played a bit of Tap Tap Revenge, even if it’s just to see what all the fuss is about. For me, it was the first time I heard that Fireflies song and – honestly – I’m still not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
The game also promises to be a bit of a hub for all things Katy Perry – news, photos, chatrooms and Facebook Connect functionality – all bundled up in a US$4.99 app which launches the same week as her new album.
Tim O’Brien, VP of business development at Disney Mobile explains the choice:
“Katy Perry is one of the most popular artists on the planet right now and this app creates an entirely new and fun way for her millions of fans to enjoy Katy’s music.”
It’s not the first time Katy has appeared in the franchise – earlier single, Hot or Cold was featured in the original Tap Tap Revenge as an optional download. More than 250,000 people grabbed the track, with more than 56,000 of them clicking through to iTunes to buy the actual song. I bet Katy (or at least her record company) are hoping for a repeat performance that benefits new album, Teenage Dream.
