BioShock 2 only just got a new dose of DLC, but the fourth – and final – installment has just been announced. Minerva’s Den is a downloadable add-on, introducing new characters, location and mystery all wrapped in an all-new single-player package.
It’s being developed for both Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as PC, and puts you in the boots of an all-new character working with Brigid Tenenbaum, exploring a completely self-contained narrative as you unravel a dictator’s stranglehold in the midst of Rapture.
Christoph Hartmann, president of publishers 2K Games, explains:
“Minerva’s Den is a substantial addition that will give players more of what they’re looking for: more story, more narrative, more gameplay and more of Rapture. The core team has created an exciting product that further enhances the mystery and allure of the world of Rapture. Minerva’s Den will be a fitting conclusion to the BioShock 2 saga.”
2K tells us to expect an exploration of Rapture Central Computing. If that sounds new, there’s a good reason – gamers have never been to this particular district of the undersea city – and there are some dark secrets hidden therein. You’ve got access to some spangly new high-tech weaponry and a nice new Plasmid to play with – only fitting as Minerva’s Den is full of more dangerous Splicers who can control the elements, upgraded Security bots (rockets and lightning bolts!) and an interesting variant on the Big Daddy.
Developed, as always, by 2K Marin, Minerva’s Den has been designed to offer gamers some new twists on the already story-driven experience that is BioShock 2. No release date has been mentioned at this point, but I don’t think we’ll be waiting too long…
