German Pro-CS player killed in car accident

The pro-gaming world is in mourning following the death of Counter-Strike 1.6 player cyx following complications after a car accident.

cyx (Antonio Daniloski to his mum) was credited with leading the German Mousesports team to victory in a whole bunch of championships – including five consecutive ESL Pro Series titles.

His team, who were en route to the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge in Shanghai at the time of cyx‘s accident, are returning to Germany and will not compete in the upcoming tournament.

Teammates have prepared this video in honour of their friend, and posted this statement:

Today we must say goodbye to our beloved friend and player, Antonio “cyx” Daniloski. Toni had a car accident on his way back from Frankfurt airport and passed away of the consequences.

Starting point was a missed flight from Frankfurt to Shanghai (China), which our entire Counter-Strike 1.6 team was suspected to take. Unfortunately, Antonio “cyx” Daniloski missed the flight and received another flight on Thursday morning.

On his way back from the airport, he had a car accident due to a tire failure and passed away of the consequences.

Our thoughts at this difficult time for us go to Tonis family, relatives and friends. We mourn a friend and player who was always loved by everyone in our mousesports team and the whole gaming community and because of his commitment and engagement he was one of the most important and famous personalities of all time in mousesports.

Toni led the mousesports team to many victories, such as five consecutive ESL Pro Series titles, the IEM World Championship 2008, the IEM European Championship 2010 and many more.

Rest in peace mate, we will greatly miss you.

Our Counter-Strike 1.6 team is already on their way back to Germany and we’ve canceled our presence and Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge Shanghai.

cyx joined mousesports in 2007, and played a key role in bringing the German giant back to the top of their game. 2008 was the best year in mousesports‘ history, winning the IEM finals title, as well as IEM III Dubai and WEM championships. After a disappointing 2009, things were looking good for 2010 – cyx helping to bring the team back as one of the best in the world.

Competitive site SK Gaming posted this tribute:

cyx was one of the best all around players amongst the elite sides. Skilled with all of the weapons, truly a rarity in the best teams, he could be seen locking down a bombsite with an AWP (as he was known to do at B on inferno) or helping retake with a rifle. His deagle frags alone got mouz back into so many big games over the years.

Fans of Counter-Strike have lost one of the most entertaining players to spectate and mouz have lost one of the best German players of all time as well as one of the best personalities in their team.

playerattack extends our sympathies to cyx’s family, friends, teammates and opponents.
