Game trailers have been getting pretty lengthy in recent times, but we think Red Dead Redemption is about to take the cake. A 30-minute animated film, titled simply “Red Dead Redemption” will debut on US television at midnight, Saturday May 15th, just a few days before the game’s release.
“America, early 1900’s. The era of the cowboy is coming to an end. When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is sent across the American frontier to help bring the rule of law. Experience intense gun battles, dramatic train robberies, bounty hunting and duels during a time of violent change. Red Dead Redemption is an epic battle for survival in a beautiful open world as John Marston struggles to bury his blood-stained past, one man at a time.”
…as if the idea of a half-hour animated Western wasn’t pants-wettingly exciting (if you’re into that sort of thing), I’ve got more good news for you. Australian director John Hillcoat has been working on the project, too. He’s the guy behind the recent Hollywood adaptation of The Road, but we hear that he was actually chosen for his work on amazing Australian film The Proposition (a must-see, written by Nick Cave!).
Oh, and then there’s the fact that the whole half-hour is entirely created using in-game assets, showing off the modified RAGE engine. That’s kinda cool, too.
