Nintendo have just confirmed an all-new, 3D capable piece of portable hardware, tentatively named the 3DS.
This one came somewhat out of left-field, and I admit I clicked the link thinking I was about to sing along with Rick Astley, but the Japanese press release confirms it. Apparently the new handheld will be on sale in the land of the Rising Sun by March 2011, but the rest of the world will have to wait until E3 2010 to find out when they’ll be able to get their hands on one.
The new hardware promises to be glasses-free and boasts backwards compatability so you can play all of your favourite dual-screen titles.
Nintendo originally launched the DS in 2004, and the fourth iteration of the technology, the DSi XL (following DS, DS Lite, and DSi) will launch in the US later this month.
