D&D + Porn Stars… I'd hit that (with my axe)

Porn stars playing Dungeons and Dragons. Sound like a winning combination to you, too? Then you’ll need to check out I Hit It With My Axe, a new web series that launched today over at The Escapist.

Star of the show, “sex/nerd legend” Satine Phoenix explains what it’s all about:

“I Hit It With My Axe” is a web TV reality show that will air once a week for a year. The main cast consists of Zak S as the Dungeon Master, Mandy Morbid, Kimberly Kane, Frankie, Connie and myself. We have a few other people that come in and out of the game like Sasha Grey and Justine Joli.

We aren’t all porn stars though. We’re a medley of porn stars, strippers, models, a hair dresser and I am an ex-porn star/fetish model and currently an illustrator.”

Satine goes on to point out that porn stars playing D&D is not as weird as you might think – they don’t spend all day, every day, having sex with each other (although she admits that’s a large part of it!). Instead, a couple of her group of friends are bookworms, others are fans of comics and cartoons, and still others are movie fans. It’s a natural progression that a large chunk of this “next generation of sexy women in the media” turns to escapist video games when they want to relax.

The idea for the show actually came from Zak’s blog: Playing D&D With Porn Stars, which he’s been maintaining since 2009. He explains that while he prefers AD&D, the lovely Satine started playing 3.5, so he’s had to cobble together a lite version of 3.5: “a mongrel game of the old rules which I like, and the new rules which everybody here is used to.”

Satine continues:

Zak likes us to play as if anything we could imagine up and do in real life, we could do in the game. If my character wanted to climb a wall and was a wizard sure she could try, but it would be much harder than if my character was a rogue. Just because it’s not in my list doesn’t mean I can’t do it.

I know, I know, you’re not reading this for the gameplay elements, right?

Then, may I present to you the first episode of I Hit It With My Axe, for your viewing pleasure:

The plan – at this stage – is to play the game for a whole year, following one continuous campaign. If any characters fail their saving throw, then the gamers will just roll up new ones. And that’s how it goes.

I Hit It With My Axe kicked off with its first episode on March 17th, with updates coming every week on The Escapist. Interview with Satine courtesy io9.com. Stay tuned.
