It seems that in about two years, we’ll have an answer. Talent director behind the recently-released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has just announced that he’s about to start work on his feature film debut, an action thriller titled Frost Road.
Keith Arem will not only be directing the film (which is set in a small coastal town affected by an invisible contagion) but has also written the script and is planning a graphic novel as a companion to Frost Road, which he’s developing with co-creator Brandon Humphreys and artist Christopher Shy.
It’s not a completely unusual jump for Arem, who cast, engineered and directed all of the actors for CoD: Modern Warfare 2, including Lance Henriksen (Terminator, Aliens), Keith David (Platoon), Kevin McKidd (Trainspotting, Grey’s Anatomy), Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan) and the inimitable 50 Cent.
Arem’s company PCB Productions has produced digital content for a whole swag of video games you might remember, including the recent Prince of Persia, Spider-Man and other titles in the Call of Duty series. They’ve also dipped their fingers into a variety of pies, working on a collection of anime titles, and there’s even a musical outfit – Contagion – under their umbrella. This time, they’re not alone in this venture, working together with Avenue Pictures (who produced Angels in America), as well as Solipsist Films.
