Ubisoft has sent word that Ghost Recon Online is getting more of a lick of paint when it emerges from open beta test - it's getting an all-new name as well. Keep your eyes peeled: Ghost Recon Phantoms is hitting virtual shelves on April 10th.
The new name refers to the Phantoms - a team of agents who have left the Ghosts team to pusrue personal agendas. As producer Corey Facteau explains:
The end of open beta is a new start to the game. The difference between where the game started and the game today is so considerable that we felt we should mark it with a fresh identity.
More than five million gamers picked up GRO throughout its beta test, with Ubisoft taking feedback onboard and continuously increasing and improving the content of the game. The developer's key focus: "The blending of intense shooters with the teamwork and tactical depth of MOBAs".
Alongside the new name, Ghost Recon Phantoms is being given an all-new art direction, new character and device design, new lighting, and polished level design "on the majority" of maps.
Ghost Recon Phantoms is headed exclusively to PC on April 10th, and will be free-to-play.
