Tomb Raider takes over the iTunes App Store

We didn't know this was happening, otherwise we'd have told you about it earlier. You don't have to wait until next year for your Tomb Raider fix! While the Definitive Edition won't be out until 2014, the team at Square Enix have given us a different Lara - with the original 1996 edition of Tomb Raider available right now on the iTunes App Store.

This is the one that started it all - one of the most influential games of all time. It inspired ten sequels and spin-offs, two movies, and a ridiculous number of cosplayers.

The game is available right now for iOS in the iTunes App Store in a number of regions, it's confirmed playable in Australia and New Zealand right now. If you're not in that part of the world, the game obviously still exists, you might just have to wait a little while for it to arrive.

Traditionally, the US App Store updates at 11pm Eastern (in about three hours from now) - we're assuming that when it does so, you'll be able to get your Tomb Raider fix for a tiny 99 cents.

Given that we don't know anything about this new mobile port, we don't know how well the platformer/adventurer translates to touch screens. It's downloading right now, but if you check it out first, let us know!
