Crash Bandicoot still belongs to Activision

Late last week, the internet was a-flutter with the story that Sony had reportedly bought the rights to Crash Bandicoot. While it was all very exciting, now that the dust has settled, we can see that nothing's actually changed.

When asked about the rumoured transaction, Activision let us down gently.

Activision owns Crash Bandicoot and we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life.

The news comes after the publisher has removed all evidence of the series from its online presence, and the character popped up instead in some PlayStation 4 promotional material.

In light of Activision's remarks, fans are now pondering that PlayStation was paying tribute to the long-running character, and hoping that Activision can make good on its reboot hints.
