There may be a third game in the Chronicles of Riddick series after all - that is, if actor Vin Diesel can be believed. While we haven't heard anything official, the Riddick actor claims that his development studio Tigon is behind the upcoming release.
In a recent interview with Screencrush, Diesel explains:
My diehard gamers want Tigon to deliver the third chapter in the Riddick game. We, just of the past couple of months, just this year, reassembled that team from Starbreeze that brought Escape from Butcher Bay to create the third game.
Technically speaking, that ties in with the actor's statements: The team at Starbreeze has long-since disbanded: Many former staffers went on to form Machinegames, now working on Wolfenstein: The New Order, while others stayed on for other projects including the rebooted Syndicate, Payday 2 and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.
Tigon has been involved with both Starbreeze interpretations of Riddick, plus the disappointing Wheelman, but has stayed quiet since.
Rumours are swirling, as you might expect - the new game may be more of an MMO, according to sources - but concrete details are thin on the ground. Given that we haven't heard anything about it to date, we're assuming it's not a direct tie-in with the third Chronicles of Riddick movie, the simply-titled Riddick.
More as it happens.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
