No Wii U price drop for Australia/NZ

It was a big night for Nintendo - off the back of its brand new 2DS handheld, the company also revealed big plans for a major price drop on the struggling Wii U console. That is: A major price drop for the Wii U in certain territories - and Australia isn't one of them.

Wii U console

Not getting any cheaper Down Under

While North America will enjoy a $50 drop in price for the console, Australians and New Zealanders are still stuck with the same price we've had for a while now - even in the face of two new console launches before the end of the year.

This is on top of the news that the Limited Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD will not be making its way Down Under, and neither will the Wii U bundle we mentioned a few days ago.

...while the new decorated console and limited edition game (which comes with a Ganondorf statue!) will have to be import-only, we're not ruling out a price drop for the Wii U before the end of the year. It would be silly of Nintendo to not capitalise on the Christmas present rush, but it's curious it's not jumping on that bandwagon a little earlier.
