Aveline de Grandpré had an all-too-brief turn in the spotlight as the main character in the Vita-only Assassin's Creed III: Liberation. We've not seen the last of her yet, though, as Ubisoft confirms the franchise's only female assassin will return in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - but only on PlayStation 3.
Black Flag lead writer Darby McDevitt explains:
It’s a ways forward so Aveline is a bit older. It’s not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassin’s Creed IV is like a novel, Aveline’s missions are like a short story.
While not crucial to the completion of the story, Aveline's missions are made possible thanks to Animus upgrades from Abstergo. While you focus mostly on Edward Kenway, your co-workers are retrieving different genetic memories from all kinds of different people - including, eventually, Aveline.
The African-French assassin will appear in three missions in Assassin's Creed IV - that is, around an hour of content. Fans of the series on Xbox 360 and PC: You're just gonna have to miss out.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
