History gets written into Mad Max motion comic

Chumbucket has an unenviable job: He's Mad Max's trusted mechanic - the man responsible for keeping the Interceptor running. He's also now a star in his own right, as DC Entertainment reveals a brand new motion comic designed to tie-in with the upcoming video game.

Designed as a prequel to both the game and film, the new comic explains how Chumbucket and Max first met. Written by Tom Taylor (Injustice: Gods Among Us, Earth 2, The Deep) and illustrated by Jason Shawn Alexander (Legends of the Dark Knight), the project is described as a "great reintroduction" into Max's post-apocalyptic landscape.

Alexander tells USA Today that the new comic "was a great bit of nostalgia for me and also an opening to lend my own touches to this iconic character."

It's the same gritty version, if not more extreme in his actions. So many characters and stories like this can be watered down and over stylized when they make a 'return.' This is the Mad Max that fans love.

The game - in the works at Avalanche Studios, creators of Just Cause - gives Max the job of building the ultimate war machine, and of course Chumbucket is always there to lend a hand.

Mad Max is due out in April 2014, for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
