In case you didn't realise that another Gran Turismo game was on the way, Sony would like to tease you with that information. Promising "exciting announcements" for the series next week, gamers are pinning their hopes on the reveal of Gran Turismo 6.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the games, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi will "provide an update on the future of the Gran Turismo game" when he appears at Silverstone Circuit in the UK on May 15th.
This is - potentially - the first we've really heard about Gran Turismo 6 since development was confirmed back in 2010 and Polyphony was reportedly out photographing track locations. Current rumours suggest it could make its way to Vita, as well as PS3 (and presumably PS4, for that matter).
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Jim Ryan explains:
The Gran Turismo franchise continues to be extremely important to PlayStation. We felt that 15 years of GT was an event worth celebrating along with our colleagues from the Americas, Asia and Japan. We are very grateful to our manufacturer partners for helping us to bring together a fantastic event. As well as experiencing the development of the franchise and comparing the virtual and real, it will be a pleasure to see Yamauchi-san and hear what’s next for Gran Turismo.
The particularly exciting element of the location chosen for next week's event is the simple fact that Silverstone has "so far, never featured in Gran Turismo". Read into that what you will.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
