Retro fans around the world are already more than a little excited about Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, but the rebooted platformer just got even more promising, with Grant Kirkhope announcing that he is composing the soundtrack for the game. It's a bit of a jump from recent games he's worked on, but the Perfect Dark composer is well suited to the role, coming from a solid background of Nintendo 64 titles.
Kirkhope made the announcement himself, spilling the news via Twitter:
Should hopefully finish my final piece for "Castle of Illusion HD starring Mickey Mouse" tonight!!!
As well as Perfect Dark, Kirkhope's also worked both with Rare and as a solo artist, penning tunes for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, GoldenEye, titles in the Banjo-Kazooie series, Donkey Kong and Viva Pinata.
We don't know much about this rebooted Castle of Illusion just yet, but the game is coming to PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and PC around the middle of the year.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
