Welcome to Player Attack!
If you're itching for more from the streets (and skies) of Columbia, there's a new way to get your BioShock Infinite fix: A board game. BioShock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia is in the works at Plaidhat Games, and pits the Vox Populi against the Founders in a challenge to conquer the districts of Columbia.
The board game features player-controlled "mobs of combatants", each of which desperately wants control of the city in the sky.
Part world's fair and part battleship, Columbia has erupted into civil war as two sides vie for control of the most important city on Earth. The nationalistic Founders seek to prove that Columbia is even more American than its motherland, and the anarchistic Vox Populi seek to burn the floating city out of the sky. Caught in the middle of the infighting is disgraced former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, and Elizabeth, a mysterious young woman fated to be Columbia's salvation or the bringer of its doom.
Right now, the game is being assembled by the Plaidhat Games worker bees, and won't be ready for "2-5 months". Not too suprrising - Siege of Columbia will feature 52 miniatures and "tons" of original artwork based on the video game. Two or four people can get in on the action, which should take 60-90 minutes for a full playthrough.
That said, if this is floating your boat and you want to lay your cards down nice and early, pre-orders are open now, and will set you back US$60 (plus shipping etc), as compared to the usual price of US$85.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
