Team Ninja has officially been split down the middle, according to reports from parent company Tecmo Koei. Rather than naming one "Team" and the other "Ninja", which would have been the obvious, the developer is now made up of Ichigaya Development Group 1, lead by Yosuke Hayashi (current lead of Team Ninja) and Ichigaya Development Group 2, lead by Fatal Frame producer Keisuke Kikuchi.
Team Ninja is best known for both the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises, but it is not yet known whether the teams will take one series each, or if the groups will be working on more than one project at a time. The change is all part of a corporate restructuring process at Tecmo Koei, translates Siliconera.
The latest title from the studio - Ninja Gaiden 3 - hit Xbox 360 and PS3 last year, with 2013 bringing an enhanced Wii U release, titled Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge (the first game to be given an Australian R18+ rating). In related news, the game is headed back to the other two consoles later in the year, with "even more" additional content. It's a vicious cycle.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
