"Inspired by the new hit animated series," Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows might not be quite the 90s cartoon we grew up with, but it's an interesting interpretation. The new TV series is all over Nickelodeon (all over the world), and the upcoming game will be all over digital download platforms a little later in the year.
This time around, we're given a third-person brawler experience, set firmly in a New York City filled with "articulated, true-to-life environments". And, of course, all four heroes in a half shell - Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael - are representin'.
One of the absolute highlights of the new game is the inevitable four-player online co-op mode. Team up with three of your mates (you can fight over which one is which turtle), and set about stomping the Foot Clan into oblivion.
We're also promised deep character development, an immersive world, and an impressive skill-based combat system (combo-driven action all the way). If you've been itching to get your hands on a bit of Turtle Power, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows could be just the fix you need.
Developed by Red Fly Studios (the team behind Mushroom Men), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is due out on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and Steam some time in the North American summer.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
