Do the milkshake the milkshake do the shake
Last year, we learned that Nexon had acquired the rights to Ghost in the Shell, and today we find out that Ghost in the Shell: STAND ALONE COMPLEX will be a free-to-play FPS due out in the first half of 2014. Don't all sigh wistfully at once, please.
You can expect "fierce and dynamic battles" (between cyborgs, of course!), and an intriguing co-operative battle mode, which integrates each player with the game's artificial intelligence.
STAND ALONE COMPLEX is, unsurprisingly, based on the animated television production of the same name, as well as Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG and Ghost in the Shell: STAND ALONE COMPLEX Solid State Society. At this stage, the game looks like a standalone offering, however Nexon does hold the rights to develop games (plural) based on the animated series.
This one's in development at Neople, the Nexon subsidiary responsible for Cyphers and the ridiculously popular Dungeon & Fighter, which currently boasts more than 400 million players worldwide, and owns the record for 3 million concurrent players in China.
No specific dates for Ghost in the Shell: STAND ALONE COMPLEX, however we are promised a worldwide launch, so gamers in the West won't miss out.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
