New Injustice trailer kicks comic book butt

While things are still kept tightly under wraps at NetherRealm, today's new trailer for Injustice gives us our biggest hints yet for the story behind the upcoming brawler. Remember, the heroes and villains of the DC Comics universe are being pit against each other - but at this point, we're not sure quite why.

One thing that we do know about the story is that it's being written by longtime collaborators Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, the brains behind All-Star Western and Jonah Hex. That pairing explains the dark grittiness of the footage we've seen to date, even if we don't have any canon reasoning just yet.

No new characters in this clip (although eagle-eyed fans claim to have spotted Hawkgirl, who is not yet confirmed), so we're looking at Bane, Batman, Catwoman, Cyborg, Deathstroke, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Harley Quinn, Joker, Nightwing, Solomon Grundy, Superman, Wonder Woman and a power-suited Lex Luthor.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is hitting PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U starting April 16th, we're hoping by then we'll know a little more about what we're in for.
