Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
Video game trailers come in all shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common: They're designed to show the game in the best possible light. This latest effort from Aliens: Colonial Marines, however... it shows plenty of aliens, a sprinkling of bad language, and more than a few explosions, but somehow, that combination just doesn't seem enough. Maybe publisher Sega should have found a different voice actor?
Titled "Kickass", we were given the trailer without comment from Sega. Was our local distributor applying the rule that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"?
One person who did not have particularly nice things to say about the trailer came from an unexpected source. Mikey Neumann is the writer of Aliens: Colonial Marines, and - generally speaking - it's he who puts the words into the Marines' mouths. This time, he wants you to know, was a glaring exception.
The dialog in the Aliens trailer today is not from the game. I also did not write it. Love you!
With comments from followers observing that "this reeks of a marketing department" and one gamer even feigning excitement for "this new Duke Nukem: Colonial Marines game", we think it's fair to say that Sega, or potentially developer Gearbox, missed the mark on this one. For a game that's due out in just three weeks, that's some pretty poor timing.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
