The Last of Us comes in two Collector’s Editions

How can you choose? Sony has just confirmed that The Last of Us will come to Australia in not one, but two special editions. Flip a coin if you have to (or just get both) - both Joel and Ellie get their own personalised versions of the pack, and this is the only way you can get some of these limited edition goodies.

The Last of Us: Ellie Edition and The Last of Us: Joel Edition both contain pretty much the same content - and that content is rather impressive, ranging from comics to art books to DLC, a poster, a soundtrack, and - wait for it - a new downloadable skin for LittleBigPlanet.

Here's all the details of what's in store:

• The Last of Us mini artbook: explore the world of The Last of Us through some of the remarkable artwork that gave shape to the game
• The Last of Us: American Dreams Issue #1: the first in a series of comics created in partnership with Dark Horse to delve into the backstory of Ellie. The version included features a variant cover found only in these special editions
• Exclusive game pack: The Ellie Edition showcases the character Ellie on the game pack artwork, while the Joel Edition will feature Joel’s face
• Collectable poster: an exclusive screen print effect poster of each character can be found in their respective editions
• DUALSHOCK3 skin: skin your PS3 controllers with Joel or Ellie, depending on which edition you decide to order
• Survival DLC Pack
  • Multiplayer Bonuses:
    • Bonus XP
    • Melee booster
    • In-game currency
    • Customizable character items
  • Bonus Joel and Ellie skins available once the single player game is completed

...all of this, by the way, is packaged up in a "tactile canvas wrap".

The Last of Us: American Dreams was revealed at New York Comic Con late last year, and focusses on Ellie's life before the game unfolds. The edition included in the Joel or Ellie editions of the game feature variant covers, making them truly collectible.

Now, the important bit: The Last of Us is headed exclusively to PS3 from May 7th 2013 - if you want one, get in quick, pre-orders of both the Ellie and Joel editions are open right now, and stocks are limited!
