Capcom not bringing older games to Wii U

Fans of Capcom bestsellers including Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 6 have had their hopes for Wii U adaptations dashed, as the developer announces it will not be porting older games to the new console.

Capcom USA senior vice president Christian Svensson eloquently explained on the Capcom Unity forum:

With regard to WiiU, in general we're looking forward, not back so late ports are generally not on the table.

In late September, following the announcement of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Svensson confirmed the studio was working on other Wii U titles, but refused to reveal any more details "as it will surely be overanalyzed and misinterpreted to be more than what I'm saying".

However, he's remained quiet on the topic ever since. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, due out in March, is currently the only upcoming Capcom title slated for the Wii U, as DmC: Devil May Cry is only due out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
