Tomb Raider is shaping up to be something a little bit special, and there's now a suggestion that you may be able to share its special-ness with your mates. We're hearing the upcoming action/adventure from Crystal Dynamics may in fact include multiplayer content in "a variety of modes", thanks to a leaked snippet of information from a game retailer.
+ A Turning Point: Experience Lara Croft’s intense origin story from a young woman to a hardened survivor.
+ An All-New Raiding Experience: Explore a mysterious island filled with environmental puzzles, visceral combat, and ancient tombs to discover.
+ Fight to Live: Salvage resources, gain experience, and upgrade Lara’s weapons to survive the island’s hostile inhabitants.
+ Survive as a Team: Play a variety of multiplayer modes as Lara’s Shipmates or Yamatai’s Scavengers.
At this stage, we've only officially heard about Tomb Raider's story-driven, single-player experience (which looked amazing in our latest hands-on preview). Unofficially though, there have been hints about some extra content for years now, including job advertisements for multiplayer producer roles.
Obviously, with this being all-but the first we've heard about the feature, there aren't too many details available. Tomb Raider's multiplayer may be as simple as a co-op mode bringing someone in to help out with puzzles - or it could be something more out of character, a Lara Croft-themed capture the flag, perhaps?
We've reached out to Crystal Dynamics and will keep you updated on any news.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
