Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
It's official, ladies and gents: Rayman Jungle Run is Apple's pick for iPhone Game of the Year. The Ubisoft platformer scored points for its "stellar control and stunning graphics", putting it firmly in the same top-of-the-class category as Breaking Bad and Frank Ocean's latest album, Channel ORANGE. On the iPad, best in show was "mesmerising, original puzzle game" The Room.
Runner-up for iPhone was social casual brain-teaser Letterpress, which coupled a word-find with a bunch of strategy elements. On the iPad, Apple editors liked Waking Mars, a "beautiful vision" of the Red Planet.
While Intern Liam also fell in love with Rayman's latest outing, neither of the editor's choices made it into the best-seller list. When it comes to actual sales figures, there are two games that dominate, with Draw Something taking out top honours on iPhone, and Angry Birds Space on iPad. In an unusual twist, the #1 game on one platform is #2 on the other, sending conspiracy theorists wild.
(Meanwhile, congratulations to Lili, which "broke new ground" and was named in the "New Ways to Play" section for iPhone.)
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
