Journey: Video gaming’s first Grammy nomination

Offering yet another positive argument to the "Are Games Art?" debate, the American National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has just announced the Grammy award nominees for 2013, and tucked in amongst them is a video game - the first to receive such an honour.

The game is Journey, from Austin Wintory at thatgamecompany. It has been nominated as Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media - and there's some stiff competition. The game is up against Ludovic Bource's The Artist, John Williams' The Adventures of Tintin - The Secret of the Unicorn, Hans Zimmer's The Dark Knight Rises, Howard Shore's work on Hugo, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross.

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 10th, 2013.
