Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
Liberation Maiden was previously a Japan-only release, forming part of four-game pack GUILD01 when it was released in May of this year. Since then, it's enjoyed a good deal of import success, and has slowly started making its way to the West. Europe got their hands on the shooter on October 4th, and it's been unlocked for North American audiences today. If you haven't heard much about it yet, now's a good time to start.
Published by Level 5 (best known for the Professor Layton series), Liberation Maiden is the brainchild of the very unique, very Japanese Suda51. A full-scale 3D sci-fi shooter designed for 3DS, and is everything you might expect.
Akihiro Hino, President and CEO of LEVEL-5 explains:
LEVEL-5 is proud to bring LIBERATION MAIDEN to North America and introduce SUDA51’s vision and innovation to an entirely new audience. LIBERATION MAIDEN delivers the AAA quality in design, story and gameplay that gamers typically expect of a high-priced boxed product but delivers it through the downloadable platform.
Set in New Japan, 100 years from now, gamers step into the shoes of Shoko Ozora, a high school girl who has found herself President of Japan after her father's assassination. She must now pilot a giant humanoid robot in order to fight back against his killers.
Goichi Suda (SUDA51), CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture elaborates:
The concept of LIBERATION MAIDEN originated from discussions I had with Akihiro Hino about collaborating on an innovative game based on new ideas. I took the project very seriously and ended up creating a full-scale 3D shooting game. I think it turned out to be a fun game and we’re excited to have you check it out.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
