Ubisoft-endorsed Minecraft mod stars Far Cry 3

Traditionally, gaming tributes tucked into Minecraft are put there by fans, creating overly-complicated shrines dedicated to their favourite things. Today though, we've heard about a brand new map and texture pack for the blocky world-builder, inspired by Far Cry 3 and heartily endorsed by Ubisoft.

Minecraft meets Far Cry 3

This, my friends, is true beauty.

"Minecraft enthusiast" Michael Lambert (better known as Sacr3, the creator of Newcraft City) was brought on-board to create the map, while artists Yohann Delcourt and Axel Janssen are responsible for the textures. The pack contains modded environments, weapons and tools, and is packed with Easter Eggs, dotted throughout the islands. You'll be able to find key Far Cry 3 locations and characters (including Citra, Jason and - of course - Vaas) given the Minecraft treatment, too.

While the images we've been given are - we assume - not necessarily the finished artwork, this is no joke. Far Cry 3 is headed to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 29th, 2012. This new Minecraft pack is landing somewhat closer, arriving for free on PC on October 26th.
