Do the milkshake the milkshake do the shake

A look inside the buildings of DayZ

Want to see what's in the works for the standalone version of DayZ? Developer Dean "Rocket" Hall is such an enabler, he's shared a whole bunch of new in-progress shots, showing off a little interior decorating that the team has been putting into Chernarus.

All of these images have been taken on medium texture resolution "normal" graphics settings, and Hall promises, they're uncropped and unaltered.

Dean reports that the team has been "very busy" going through all of the buildings in Chernarus, adding interiors to each. Of course, many of the buildings were created just to look good on the outside, so creating interiors that both look correct and work properly is providing a bit of a challenge.

The village I used to take the screenshot in now has all its buildings enterable, including the sheds. Most focus has so far been on the buildings that are situated outside of the center, but focus now is turning to doing interiors for the city buildings. This is complicated by our desire to dramatically increase performance, and given the scene complexity inside cities we need to balance this with the desire to increase building scavenging opportunities inside the cities.

Hall promises, despite all this extra design work, the standalone release of DayZ is still on track for release "later this year" - in the meantime, you'll have to make do with these images, and the hollow-building interpretations of the original ArmA II mod.
