Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
After a few dropped hints and a little gaming detective work, Gearbox Software has revealed that Borderlands 2 is indeed walking the plank, getting a little piratical with the next batch of DLC - Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty.
Due October 16th, just a week after the arrival of the Mechromancer, this extra content is set in an expansive desert (wait, what?), and stars the glorious, one-eyed pirate queen Captain Scarlett.
Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software explains what's going on:
You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there's no water. It's all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there's the legend of a treasure. That kicks off this whole adventure that the players can go on.
What else is there? A new enemy: Sand worms! A new vehicle: Sand skiff! A new currency: Sand Seraph crystals!
The new campaign is the first of four that Gearbox has been working on, scheduled for staggered release over the next few months. Captain Scarlett has been designed with "all players in mind", meaning that if you haven't finished the whole thing, you're still invited to the desert - and if you have finished Borderlands 2, this might be a great chance to get more swag.
Each of the four new Borderlands 2 campaigns will set you back US$9.99 (or US$29.99 if you buy all four in a season pass), but rest assured that other DLC - like Gaige the Mechromancer - will be available separately.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
