The second half of 2012 is a tricky time for Josh Holmes. As Creative Director of 343 Industries, he's part of the team responsible for one of the most eagerly-anticipated games of the year - Halo 4. It's not his first time working with Master Chief, having worn the Executive Producer hat for both Halo Waypoint and Halo Reach, but as he tells us, that doesn't mean his new job is any less challenging.
Walking the fine line between keeping long-term fans happy and hopefully interesting a few newcomers is difficult enough, but it gains an extra layer of difficulty when you're picking up the franchise from the team who created the characters, the universe and the mythos. Josh spent a little time with us at EB Expo, explaining the issues facing 343 Industries through the development of Halo 4, the things the team has changed, and the things they've kept the same.
"The race that stops the nation," is of course the Melbourne Cup, a horse race that sees almost Superbowl levels of excitement.
Meanwhile, Halo 4 is the first of an all-new trilogy, setting the scene for a much darker Halo 5 and conflict resolution in Halo 6. We don't know much about them just yet, but there's plenty of time to find out!
Tying in with the release of Halo 4 is the usual assortment of other stuff: Books, limited edition consoles and even a five-part live-action digital series, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, which will unfold in the leadup to the game's launch next month.
