Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
It's finally happened. Valve has launched the first round of Software titles onto Steam, meaning you can use the digital distribution platform to buy things other than video games.
Don't worry though, it's not a massive step away from the industry. While these applications can be used for things other than creating games, they're all still pretty closely tied.
Starting today, the Software titles now available via Steam are:
...and it's not just that this software is used to make games (or games-related products) that makes them such a great fit for Steam. Many also use Steamworks features, so you can expect easy installation and automatic updating, as well as the ability to save work to your Steam Cloud space, making your files available regardless of what computer you're working on.
These were meant to launch on September 5th, but Valve time struck again. As compensation (or an added incentive), Steam is offering 10% off the regular price of Software for one week only, so get in quick!
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
