Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
You get the feeling Jordan Mechner has been waiting for his time to come back around, the Prince of Persia developer sitting patiently in developer limbo, knowing that one day his games would enjoy the limelight once again. That day is now, following the super-successful reboot of Prince of Persia, we're now treated to another revamped Mechner classic: Karateka.
From PRINCE OF PERSIA creator Jordan Mechner, the original side-scrolling karate classic comes to XBLA with art by Jeff Matsuda (BATMAN: The Animated Series) and music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin (CIVILIZATION IV). Fight to save the lovely Mariko from the evil warlord Akuma and reunite her with her True Love!
While the world had been looking forward to Mechner's Big Reveal, the unveiling of these Karateka screens was somewhat lower-key: Xbox.com updated its database, and thrust the images into the spotlight.
Gamers shouldn't be too disappointed, however - from the looks of things, we're in for a relatively traditional take on Karateka, which bodes well. Nothing wrong with major re-imagining of classic franchises, necessarily, but it's nice to hear this one's still in safe hands.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
