If you didn't see this one coming, you haven't been paying attention: There are zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The addition of the undead - originally planned as a simple gimmicky add-on for Call of Duty: World at War - is now as much a staple of Treyarch's development as the guns and the wartime setting.
This time around, there are three re-animated gameplay modes:
Tranzit is the primary mode for zombie fans. This is open world, bigger than anything Treyarch has ever created, and able to be explored solo, or in four-person co-op. When you get tired of walking, just take the bus!
Survival is for fans of the "more classic zombie", plucking a single area from th Tranzit world (there are several available) and unleashing a horde of the undead. It's pretty standard stuff: Find a good hidey hole, hunker down, and venture out to snag bonuses and take a few shots - but only when the time is right.
New mode Grief introduces eight person multiplayer, taking the basics of Survival mode with a new competitive twist. Two teams of four players are dropped into a zombie-infested map, and the aim is simply to outlive the other. Humans cannot kill each other, but they're invited (and encouraged) to lead the opposing team into harm's way in this new twist on Humans vs Zombies.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
