Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
City of Heroes will officially be closed down on November 30th, after publisher NCSoft made the difficult decision to end the world's first superhero MMO. Developer Paragon Studios - also closing down on November 30th - has released an FAQ explaining the "sunset process" for the fading RPG.
While it doesn't touch on the why, the Frequently Asked Questions list details the when, and explains what you'll need to do in order to get a refund for any game time you may have applied to your CoH account - NCSoft will be refunding money for both outstanding subscriptions and game time card balances, by sending a cheque.
At this stage, you cannot create any new F2P accounts or upgrade your existing one - but if you're already spending time in City of Heroes, there are still some things to look forward to.
Assistant Community Manager Jessie Hit Streak Lawrence has posted a schedule of the planned sunset events - a grab-bag of existing holiday and themed events, happening all the way up to the end of November.
Summer Blockbuster: October 5 - October 8
Double XP: October 18 - October 22
Halloween Event: October 26 - October 29
Winter Event: November 9 - November 12
Rikti Invasion: November 23 - November 30.
Sure, it's not a great reason to celebrate, as such - but if you've got to go, you might as well go out in style. Kudos, City of Heroes! Kudos, Paragon Studios!
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
