Welcome to Player Attack!
And while most of Epic's studios are focussing on games development, the new (so far unnamed) Seattle developer will be spending its attention on "engineering efforts" for the technology behind Unreal Engine 4.
Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps explains the location:
The proximity to key partners, the density of world-class talent and all the factors that make Seattle an attractive place to live convinced us that it is the perfect locale for Epic’s West Coast operation. We are looking to hire even more of the best engineers around to contribute to Unreal Engine 4, which we believe is set to change the way we all make games.
...you heard right: Epic is hiring! Specifically, the studio is looking for "exceptional programmres and support staff" to join up with the Seattle team. If you've got senior-level talent when it comes to online game services and the infrastructure to support them, you should probably head over to http://www.epicgames.com/careers/seattle and check out what's on offer.
More information on the new studio, including its name and just who's involved, will be revealed in the not-so-distant future, so keep an eye out.
