Kojima: Metal Gear is going to Hollywood

Gamers have wanted it for years, and finally, Hideo Kojima has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid is headed to Hollywood, with a film adaptation of the best-selling franchise in the works at Columbia Pictures.

The news came as part of 25th Anniversary celebrations for the series - believe it or not, the first Metal Gear game hit shelves back in 1987.

Metal Gear Solid

Happy 25th anniversary!

No big names have been attached to the project other than Avi Arad as producer. His name should be familiar to movie buffs - Arad Productions recently worked on Iron Man, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk. Arad's name has also been attached to film adaptations of Mass Effect, Uncharted, Twisted Metal and a television version of Pac-Man

...however, don't get your hopes up too high just yet: The last completed video game project that Arad has worked on was a tv adaptation of Double Dragon, back in 1994.
